Body Holiday is a British owned resort located on the far north side of the island of St. Lucia, West Indies. Upon arrival to the island, we waited about 1 hour in customs and immigration, as the airport is small and understaffed. Multiple airlines arrive simultaneously, and Thursdays are the busiest. After customs, private pick up was arranged by Body Holiday and Costco Travel and was professional and prompt. Travel time to the resort was 2.5 hours, which was longer than we anticipated, especially after a 24-hour trip from Seattle, WA. Traffic on St. Lucia is terrible, rivaling many major U.S. cities. The island has primarily 2 lane roads and no turn lanes, which is why traffic is so bad. On the day we arrived, traffic was even worse due to a fatality involving one of the commercial buses. Once to the resort, check in was a breeze, quite literally took 2 minutes, and we were whisked off to our room. Even with the quick check-in, our luggage was miraculously waiting for us before we got to our room, #376. Our room was an ocean front unit, with a beautiful view. This was a corner room at the far end of the hotel and included a bonus sitting room, which added about 100 sq. ft. of welcoming living space and gave us full views South and West. It was a surprise free upgrade for us but would be worth the extra cost, as the rooms are rather small by traditional resort standards. The room was clean and well furnished. Daily housekeeping and turn down service was very nice. Pro Tip: Take the offered tour of the property so you won’t miss anything like we did. There are lots to do, and the resort is spread out, so let someone take you around on your first day. The restaurants were great, with four excellent options. I don’t tend to eat the best while on vacation and was a bit apprehensive about these “healthy” food options I had read about. I should not have been concerned, as the selections were excellent and high quality. I suggest making reservations as soon as you arrive for the best times, but they are not required at the buffet (Cariblue), the deli, or the Pavillion. Our favorite was Tao, a Japanese eatery, and we ate dinner there twice. Tao could easily be a stand-alone restaurant in Seattle or San Francisco with excellent quality, highly experienced staff, and the best bartenders; certainly, the resort’s “A” team. The other bars were always open and well stocked. My favorite was the piano bar manned by a Don Cheadle look alike: He could have been his twin brother. Excellent bartender and great personality. The resort offers an assortment of water sports. Sailing, sea kayaking, water skiing, inner tubing, and SCUBA diving are all included. Activities are weather dependent. The beach was nice but small. We like to take long walks, but the resort’s beach takes about 4 minutes to walk from one end to the other, with rocky outcroppings on either side. We never had a problem finding a lounger, and the staff was always ready to set up an umbrella for you. One thing to note about Body Holiday: It is first and foremost a health club. It has extensive options for exercise, self-defense, archery, wellness, yoga, and spin classes. Schedules ran from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the classes are taught by pros. Something else worth noting is a warning on accessibility. This resort is in no way accessible to those in a wheelchair. If you have difficulty walking or climbing stairs, this resort is not for you. There are no elevators on the premises. It is located on the side of a mountain, and as such, stairs are everywhere. The walk to the wellness center for your massage is about 200 meters and 90 steps up the hill. Fair warning.

This holiday really is all inclusive. The service, scenery, food; drink, treatments and activities are all superb. Utterly relaxing: just wonderful. So much to do. My wife and two adult daughters absolutely love it. We really don't want to go anywhere else. Not cheap but worth every penny!
